QA Food Recovery

Seattle, WA

Each year the Puget Sound Section of the Institute of Food Technologists (PSIFT) gives scholarship and travel awards to Washington students who are studying food sciences and food industry programs. It is the mission of IFT to advance the science and technology of food through the exchange of knowledge. We are dedicated to supporting the future of the food industry and believe in providing assistance to the next generation of food professionals. Proceeds from our activities and fund raisers go to support this program. PSIFT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (and we have the documents to prove it). If you or your company would like to donate directly to the scholarship program please see below.

Travel Award

This award is used to assist students traveling to a professional meeting, such as the Annual National IFT Meeting, and presenting a paper or poster session.

Outstanding Student Award

Recognizes a graduate or undergrad student who is outstanding in multiple areas: academic achievement, ability to communicate and work well with others, participation in school and extracurriculars, creativity, problem-solving, dependable, and committed to the field of food science.

Scholastic Achievement Award

Recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement and exceptional contributions to the food industry: Graduate Students and Undergraduate Students

Basis of Eligibility

These awards are designated for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a science-based program and focused on a career in the food industry. The awards consist of a scholarship recognition at the annual Awards Night dinner in May and a framed certificate. The students must attend the Awards Night dinner to receive the full scholarship amount. Except in special cases, students should not receive both the Scholastic Achievement Award and Outstanding Student Award in the same year. Students may be nominated for any of these three awards by fellow students and/or faculty, or nominate themselves.

Application Procedures

Any student interested in pursuing a career in the food industry and enrolled in a Washington State certified school may apply for these awards. An official application form must be completed for each candidate and submitted to the Puget Sound Section of the Institute of Food Technologists, along with the required supporting materials. The candidate will be judged solely on the information provided, so it is important to be accurate and thorough. To enter, complete the 2014_scholarship_application.
